Uploading an image with alt text

Drag & drop, pasting with ⌘V and checking the AI suggestion for the alt text.

No sound, with subtitles German and English subtitles – switch them on and off with “CC” in the player. The video is hosted on this server and only loads when you press play. The steps below are the full text of the video.

Goal

You upload images to the media library – with an image description (alt text) that helps screen-reader users and search engines.

Prerequisites

Permission “upload and edit files”.
For the AI suggestion: AI switched on for the website.

Step by step

Transcript: every step matches one subtitle in the video.

Open “Medien”. All images, PDFs and videos of the website live here.
Simply drag an image from your computer into the media library …
Alt text is required: what does the image show? (for screen readers and search engines)
“Alt-Text vorschlagen”: the AI describes the image – this takes a moment.
Check the suggestion! “Hochladen” stays locked until you click “Geprüft ✓” or edit the text.
Second way: copy a screenshot or image and paste it with ⌘V (Ctrl+V).
Done: the images are in the library and can be chosen in any block.

Tips & pitfalls

Tip

Purely decorative images: tick dekorativ (ohne Aussage) (decorative) instead of writing alt text.

Tip

Up to 50 MB per file; images are generated automatically in suitable sizes as WebP/AVIF.

Watch out

Alt texts describe the content, not “image of …”. No names of patients or clients without consent.
